One of the best memoirs that I've ever had the pleasure of reading.
Reading this jewel a second time.
As a mom it's horrific imagining all these babies starving and suffering from typhoid and tuberculosis. McCort handles all these horrors with a very particular humor of the young and innocent who barely know what's going on around them. As wonderful as it is though, I wish someone had edited it down more as it felt repetitive in the middle and really dragged on that section.
