wow. what made me love this book so so much were the tiny details that gave away so much about oppie’s (and others’) characters:

As the director at Los Alamos he’d answer the switchboard operator’s ‘this is Dotty’ with ‘this is Oppy’.

I love this biography.

Incredible book. As others have mentioned, it was thoroughly well-researched and yet written with so much heart and emotion. Readers will walk away with much to ponder and wonder about, perhaps even prompting a bit of a research-driven deep dive of their own.
