All Things Bright and Beautiful (All Creatures Great and Small)

This beloved sequel to Herriot's first collection, “All Creatures Great and Small”, picks up as Herriot, now newly married, journeys among the remote hillside farms and valley towns of the Yorkshire Dales, caring for their inhabitants—both two- and four-legged. Throughout, Herriot's deep compassion, humor, and love of life shine out as we laugh, cry, and delight in his portraits of his many, varied animal patients and their equally varied owners.

Enjoyable, endearing second installment of James Herriot's experiences as a vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s. Like the first book, it was full of hilarious incidents (mostly him getting drunk with Granville Bennett, this time, and Siegfried being delightfully hypocritical), and touching moments. I love these stories because they touch on such important themes -- empathy, understanding, the love of simple things. Really quality. Always a favorite.
