Smut scenes get the job done. The plot line got monotonous & repetitive after about 40% of the way in. I also found both main characters to be obnoxiously self-pitying & fixed in their individual perspective of identity, which personally annoyed me. I think I’m just over most romance novel tropes.

This book was really something. I did not like the beginning and a bit of the middle it was just gross to me and Carter was making me SO MAD with the kneel you only eat if I feed you. He treated her like a toy and I guess she was into that? He killed her family and I guess she was into that because what do you mean she still stayed with him after that? like did she not like her family? Not to mention Carter with the I like her no she's just a toy he went back and forth with that way too much I also feel like there were so many things that just didn't need to be in this book they were not needed. I remember getting bored a lot because it felt like the same things were just happening over and over again also on the note of Carter and Ariel's relationship did they ever actually talk? because I feel like they didn't even really get to know each other at all I was going to give this book a 1 star but the ending saved it. I was so close to giving up on this book and if I were to go back I wouldn't borrow this book on Libby because the ended wasn't that good to we're I would want to read all of the beginning and middle all over again not to mention on Libby for me it was around 1222 something pages. I don't know how I pushed myself to finish it but I did somehow I didn't like this book but that may just be because I might not like dark Romance as much as I thought I did.
