E. Lockhart writes reality with a passion similar to some of my very favorite YA Authors; ie. Rainbow Rowell, Becky Albertali, and Nick Lake. The characters in Again, Again are developed in such a way that you can reach out and touch them. They are familiar, they are friends, neighbors, or loved ones. Their actions and feelings are real to the nature of the persona they characterize.

I really enjoyed this read, I loved the juxtaposition of the alternative realities. At points, I felt as though I had the privilege of picking and choosing my adventure, even though I truly didn't. There were portions of this that were difficult to read as Adelaide (our heroine) deals with the realities involved with having an addict as a family member. Often she was heartbroken, unsure in the surety of her feelings, unsure of her place in her family, or at the school, or in the turbulent nature of her romantic entanglements.

Overall this was a really delightful read, but it let me down in one area. I received no closure for Adelaide. Where the end was open, it was hopeful, but it was just one of many alternative universes, and one that hadn't even been portrayed throughout the story, and even for those that were... well... I wasn't a fan of how they ended.

Let me know if you feel differently. I am very curious to see how people receive this book.

3.5 stars?? I'm having a hard time rating Again Again. I'm a fan of E. Lockhart, especially of We Were Liars, but her latest book didn't capture my attention like I hoped it would.

I did enjoy the setup and plot of the story. I like Adelaide and her family. I like her friends. But, I found the alternate versions somewhat confusing. I do think I would have enjoyed it if I'd read it in print form as opposed to an eARC. I was also reading it mostly at night with a black background which made the different and bold fonts that delineated the alternate versions harder to detect.

This is a quick read, but I didn't find myself wanting to pick it up much. Once I reached the halfway point of the book, I enjoyed it more. The story picked up and I felt more comfortable with the alternate story lines and the characters. The best part of the book is the relationship between Adelaide and her brother, Toby. I even found myself teary-eyed a few times. I do think this one deserves attention, and I hope everyone else has a better experience than I did.

Thank you to the publisher, Delacorte Press, and Netgalley for the review copy.

The audiobook version was confusing for me. The paper copy might be better.

Again Again by E.Lockhart is a book about a young woman who had suddenly come across many hardships. The author portrays each characters emotions really well, making me feel an immense amount of emotion while reading. Furthermore, I liked the way the author structured the story, putting it in logical order. In addition, I found the way that the characters reacted to certain situations realistic. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.
