I want all true crime books to be written like this. I don’t ever want to read another sensational, ‘who-done-it’, murderer-focused non-fiction/true crime story ever again. I guess what I’m trying to say is I think consuming true crime feels less icky when it’s told as a memoir by someone who puts care into their research. Hyperbole aside, Sarah Perry is an incredibly gifted writer and I think she did her mom and family justice. Read this book.
