Accidental Attachment

By Max Monroe

A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she's written about her crush...on him-including every detail of the hot, steamy "physical activity" she's fantasized about happening between them.

And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he's completely oblivious that he's the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light.

Brooke Baker has been through a lot in her thirty-one years of life.

A divorce.

A career change.

A move to New York City from "small-town" Ohio.

Not to mention, she has a bit of a medical condition that involves occasional fainting spells, mild embarrassment, and the companionship of her adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji.

But none of it has prepared her for this.

None of it prepared her for Chase Dawson.

Strong jaw, blue eyes, cut muscles, and a perfect swoop of superhero-worthy black hair, Chase's features are those of a book boyfriend and then some. Obviously, Brooke would know-she literally filled an entire manuscript with it.

A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see.

Will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined with Chase in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?

I LOVED this book! Brooke's internal dialogue had by belly laughing in the beginning and the book just got better and better. After I read the book, I listened to the audio, which made it all even better. Another amazing read from Max Monroe. Oh, and can we talk about that cover too?? Beautiful!

First of all, this was my first Max Monroe book and it will not be my last. I have every intention of digging into their backlist!

Brooke Baker is a well known and published author about to start a tour to promote her first book series being released as a TV series. But first, she has to submit a draft copy of her newest novel to her editor, Chase Dawson. Funny story though... Brooke has been in love with Chase since the day she met him. So much so, that she wrote a book about the two of them and their workplace romance - and man if it isn't steamy! While Brooke never intends for Accidental Attachment to see the light of day, but her wine consumption has her brain doing weird things. Instead of submitting the draft for the book she knows is horrible, she accidentally attaches the story of Clive and River (aka Chase and Brooke).

Fast forward to her meeting with Chase. He's raving about how amazing her new book is, the success he knows it can and wants it to have and how he's going to have to pitch to the other editors the idea of publishing this one versus the initial title she had a deal for. Brooke is confused... until Chase says the book's title. Accidental Attachment. Brooke nearly passes out and she's beyond mortified that anyone has read this book let alone the man she's fantasized about while writing it and has no idea the lead male character is based on him. Publishing this book means they'll be on a huge time crunch to get edits and changes made and since Brooke is leaving for her tour that can only mean one thing.

Chase Dawson is coming on tour with her. Living in a motorhome with her for weeks. Tight quarters for two people and a pup for a few weeks... Of course, they begin to grow close and the possibility of everything Clive and River have is looking like it could become a reality for Chase and Brooke.

I loved this title. Brooke's awkward and quirkiness were amazing. It was incredibly comical, I laughed out loud several times while reading. Chase is like literally the perfect man. And let's not forget the star of the show, Brooke's super hero pup, Benji!

The audio for Accidental Attachment is fantastic, CJ Bloom and Joe Arden knocked it out of the park. But I mean... my personal opinion is that Joe Arden could read the phone book and I'd listen.

Thank you so much Max Monroe and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.
