1. Did you like the book? Why or why not?
I’ve watched the anime for this so I wanted to read the manga to compare. Obviously the manga is better. This manga is okay I guess, I prefer the art style of the anime. In the manga of A Silent Voice they did add make it less emotional? Shoya was colder in the manga. He did soften up but In the anime he seemed to have more emotion. That deducts why I like the manga because I prefer when Shoya is nicer and not mean.
2. What was the book about?
A silent voice is about a deaf girl, Shouko is transferring to a new school, she has a notebook she writes in but no one understands her situation and how difficult it is so she gets bullied often. Shoya is one of the bullies. She finally moves one day and they part ways. Shoya secretly has feelings for Shouko and they meet once again in the future.
3. How did the protagonist change throughout the book?
Shouku changed a lot throughout the book, she used to be a shy girl who let words get to her but she was positive still, She let them affect her but she put on a positive mask to let people know shes okay because she didn’t want them worrying. In highschool as time went by she got stronger, she stopped caring what others said and just stayed happy. Shoya also changed a lot, he used to he cold and mean to everyone. He was playful but sometimes it hurt others like Shouko but in the future he learned to be more gentle, he understood what it was like to have a disability and he softened up to her and others.
4. Who would you recommend this book to and why?
I would recommend this book to people who like enemies to lovers or one sided type stories. They started off as enemies but they both learned to love each other in the end.
