To the kingdom, Keera is the king's Blade, his most feared and trusted spy and assassin. But in the shadows, she works with Prince Killian and his Shadow--the dark, brooding Fae, Riven, who sets her blood on fire. Together, they plot to kill a tyrant king.

In Myrelinth, the lush, secret city of trees, Fae, Elves, and Halflings like Keera live in harmony. But Keera cannot escape her past: her crimes against her own people have followed her all the way to the Faeland. There is a traitor in their midst, and Keera is the top suspect.

Keera finds comfort in the allies that have become her family. She swore she would never open her heart again after a loss she barely survived. But she will soon find she has more to lose than she ever imagined . . .

3.75 ⭐️ So I have mixed feelings on this one. It was good, yes, but the first 70% of the story seemed to drag, and then I felt like I blinked, and the last 30% was done, and it felt rushed. I think if the pacing was just a little bit better, and the big plot items weren't all shoved into the end of the book, it'd have easily been 4-4.5 stars. I did enjoy the progression of Keera and Riven's relationship. I liked that you found out more about the significance of Brenna, but I didn't like the attempt at a love triangle with Killian. I thought that was pointless, and the story could have easily done without it. Again, the book ended with Keera and Riven separated, so you don't know what happened to him. My hope for the next book is that they kill off Damien. The little shit needs to go. I always assumed he'd hurt Gwyn but hoped I would end up wrong. Thankfully Keera saved her, and I hope she gets some revenge. Overall, I do think there are some details in this book that make it a necessary read before moving onto the 3rd one, but just be prepared for a slow start.

I was hooked into every twist and could not predict where anything was going! I was hoping for a more shocking twist and the cliffhanger wasn't as strong as I'd hoped, but it was enough to get me running to the next book for answers!

4.5, I am reaaaaaally enjoying this series. Was a bit nervous the author was going for the love triangle trope but I think we narrowly avoided disaster on that one. Also I thought the traitor/mole was hella predictable but otherwise loved!
