Definitely did not turn out to be what I expected. The plot skidded off course about halfway through and I found myself in a whole new terrain. Some good characters, particularly Mrs Bobs. I liked the cyclical nature of the book (father / son relationships). Interesting themes around colonisation and knowledge. Not a bad read but didn’t love it
