A Little Hope: A Novel
Description
A Read with Jenna Bonus Selection An "immersive...illuminating" (Booklist) and life-affirming novel following the residents of an idyllic Connecticut town over the course of a year, A Little Hope explores the intertwining lives of a dozen neighbors as they confront everyday desires and fears: a lost love, a stalled career, an illness, and a betrayal. Freddie and Greg Tyler seem to have it all: a comfortable home, a beautiful young daughter, a bond that feels unbreakable. But when Greg is diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, the sense of certainty they once knew evaporates. Throughout their town, friends and neighbors face the most difficult of life's challenges and are figuring out how to survive thanks to love, grace, and hope. "A quietly powerful portrait of small-town life...told with wisdom and tenderness" (Mary Beth Keane, author of Ask Again, Yes) A Little Hope is a deeply resonant debut that immerses the reader in a community and celebrates the importance of small moments of connection.BUY THE BOOK

A poignant novel that will clutch deep at your soul, painting an authentic picture of life's uncertain circumstances.
Are you looking for a book to take you out of your comfort zone? If so, I have a recommendation that might be just what you're looking for!
A Little Hope by Ethan Joella is an emotional rollercoaster. This book is not for those wanting to escape reality. This book IS reality. A Little Hope tugs at your core with storylines intricately tied together so perfectly. Throughout the novel, it's clear that Joella's pedagogy of English and Psychology helped him mold this beautiful book together. Any preconceived notions I had when I first started reading were quickly diminished as I moved through each chapter. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did.
Ethan Joella's, A Little Hope, not only takes you into each character's life circumstances but into their mind and heart without any whitewashing. With such raw yet beautifully written characters and emotions, it's more than likely that you may resonate with one of them in some form or capacity. With that being said, there are trigger warnings you may want to know in advance before reading. These include but are not limited to miscarriage, suicide ideation, and the death of a loved one.
Each character is delicately interwoven with another, facing a turning point in life, emotionally, physically, or both. Throughout the book, I had a sense of normalcy, that some feelings and thoughts are universal. It attests to the reality that everyone is fighting their own battles, a reminder to be thoughtful to everyone who passes in your life.
Joella smoothly transitioned throughout each storyline, leaving no questions unanswered towards the end about each character's situation. I highly recommend Ethan Joells's novel, A Little Hope, for those who need a bit of emotional catharsis and assurance that you're not alone. Thank you, Ethan Joella, for your powerful and earnest book I didn't know I needed!
