I really enjoy Harley Jane Kozak's books; they're all set in the Los Angeles area and are very contemporary. This one, about Eastern European immigrants and former Soviet Bloc countries, got me checking out Wikipedia to learn a bit more about Belarus. I guess this would be considered part of her "Date" series of books. I'll be looking forward to the next installment for what I know will be another worthwhile read.
