Dear Bookclubz members,

It’s a new year, with a new outlook for Bookclubz, now Bookclubs.

I wanted to share the history and thought process behind this change. In 2016, we built the first version of Bookclubz as a fun side project for me and Ian, a new friend and computer programmer. I was frustrated trying to manage my book club, and he was looking to practice a new programming language. We bought Bookclubz.com because it was available, and because it only cost us $14 dollars.

Fast forward five years...

Today, Bookclubz serves over 40,000+ clubs of all types and all sizes, all over the world. Ian and I are married, with an 8-month old daughter. I’ve been working on growing Bookclubz as a startup business since 2018, and in the past three years we’ve added countless new features and improved functionality while continuing to remain free to users.

An opportunity recently presented itself to buy bookclubs.com — spelled with an S — and we took it. It’s time a literary-minded business is spelled correctly. This small name change will help us grow, gain legitimacy, form new partnerships, and be found by more book lovers across the globe.

What does this mean for you and your members? Not much! No disruption in your day-to-day: same sign on, same tools, same functionality, same company. But from now on you can go directly to Bookclubs.com.

I believe passionately in the magic of book clubs, and in the personal connections sparked through a discussion of books. This is a big step forward for us in continuing our mission of serving book clubs and book lovers. We couldn’t have done it without you. Especially the clubs that have been using Bookclubz for years. Thank you all, and much more to come.
