I’m sad to only give this 3 stars, as I utterly loved earlier books in the series. But this one was just too long and too convoluted in my opinion. I pushed myself to keep going, but usually I can read 750 pages in 2 days and this took me 8 days - mainly because I just didn’t care enough about what was happening (or more accurately not really happening). I did like the ending and am hopeful that the final book will return to feeling like the series I fell in love with years ago.
Also, I hope JLA realizes that she did Kieran dirty in this one by relegating him to the sidelines for the most part…which honestly just is baffling after having the Joining.
