I had high hopes for this book because of how much I loved The Lost Apothecary, so thankfully I was only a tad disappointed. It was hard for me to get into, but once I did it was a pretty good read. One thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the POVs being so erratic, but it’s something that was manageable. Still an incredible author with an incredible ability to tell stories.

The first three quarters of the book were slow and difficult to get through.  The last quarter, however, did have a nice payoff.  I was annoyed by having the plot explained multiple times, surely, twice is enough.  If you like a slow developing murder mystery with unreliable narrators and the occult, this might be the book for you.

It had a neat premise, but it was overshadowed by the focus not being where it should have been. So, in the London Sea...read more

Sarah’s ability to relive the past with vengeance create a wonderful read.
