I wish I could give this book a million stars. My goodness it was amazing! I am so glad i knew NOTHING about it when I started it. It made it that much better.
I'd say 3.5 stars? It was just....all right.
The world through Klara's eyes was wonderful and I think Ishiguro captured that childlike world view and innocence brilliantly. But I wasn't particularly excited or interested in the plotline itself? The story unfolded just so and it was just....all right. Neither bad nor amazing. Just all right.
I listened to this one as an audiobook! Maybe because of that, I have no idea what happened to beggar-man

This reads as a futuristic fable. Klara is a robot who very perceptively notices the way people react around her. She is chosen by a teenage girl who is not well. As Klara settles into her new life, she makes a deal with her god-the sun-to spare and heal her person. Ishiguro addresses race and class, the ethics of genetic engineering, faith and the sacrifices we make for those we love.
I loved this book! The futuristic yet wholesome take this book has in technology and in particular robots is very interesting! I just wished that Klara could have gotten a happier ending :(
