Comprehensive history of a fascinating individual who left a tremendous impact on history. Nonetheless suffers because by the end you still do not know Deng the person behind Deng the mover of history, which is required for great biography. May not be possible to know given limited personal details / journals and correspondence in a country with tightly controlled information.
